Ruthie Dreyer was born in New York City, but it’s not her whole personality

My name is Ruthie Dreyer and I have a background in education, comedy and writing. I’ve been a high school Special Education and ELA teacher for the past nine years, but I’m taking some time off to nurture my newborn son and my creativity. I’ve been blogging since LiveJournal, but I worked VERY hard to have that removed from the internet. I took improv classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and the Magnet Theater. I wrote sketches that were performed in the Magnet’s MOXIE Showcase for female/nonbinary performers in 2018 and 2021.

My favorite pieces to write are short, non-fiction essays. Some topics I cover: love, womanhood, coming of age, body image, mental illness and grief. My inspirations are David Sedaris, Ottessa Moshfegh and Ilana Glazer.
